Why upload an audience?
Uploading an audience allows you to use customer data that isn’t currently available in the platform. This is especially useful when you have offline data, legacy lists, or customer information collected through external systems that you want to activate in campaigns.
For example, you might want to:
- Use offline customer data for a targeted campaign
- Upload contacts gathered at events or through external tools
- Activate audiences that are not yet synced or integrated into the platform
By uploading an audience, you can quickly turn external data into a usable segment for campaigns, personalization, and further analysis.
How to upload an audience
To upload a new audience, follow these steps:
- Navigate to Customer Hub.
- Open the Audience tab.
- Click on Upload.
- Enter an Audience Name to help you easily identify this audience later.
- Upload your file.
The supported file formats are:
- Excel (.xlsx)
- CSV (.csv)
Once the file is uploaded, the system will process the data and create an audience based on the provided information.
File preparation guidelines
To ensure a successful upload, make sure your file follows these guidelines—especially if you’re adding custom columns that are not part of the standard template:
- Use lowercase letters only
Column names should be written entirely in lowercase. - Avoid special characters
Do not use symbols or special characters in column names. - Use underscores instead of spaces
Separate words with underscores to keep column names readable and compatible.- ✅ country_of_residence
- ❌ Country of residence
Following these rules helps the platform correctly recognize and process your data during the upload.
