Broadcast Studio helps you connect with your audience through targeted, timely messages that drive results. Whether you're launching a promotion, sharing important updates, or re-engaging users, you can create and send campaigns in just a few simple steps.
You have multiple channels at your fingertips to ensure your message reaches your clients in the most effective way:
- SMS
- Viber
- Push notifications
Let’s walk through how to get started and make the most of Broadcast Studio (If you prefer video tutorial there is one below).
Navigate to Marketing Hub > +Create new broadcast
Step1: Name your broadcast > Choose a channel you want to use > Choose the audience you want to reach
Step 2: Compose your message — use “/” to add placeholders like First Name for personalization. You can also include clickable links and images to make your message more engaging.
- You’ll have the option to test your broadcast first, so you can make sure everything looks right before sending it out.
Step 3: Schedule when your message will be sent, set how long you’ll collect data for insights, and choose whether the broadcast should be one-time or recurring.
Step 4: Once a scheduled broadcast is created, it will appear in the broadcast list labelled as "waiting for approval". To initiate the broadcast, simply click the "Approve" button located on the right side of the broadcast.
Deleting Broadcast – If you want to delete a broadcast, click the Actions dropdown menu next to the “Approve” button, and select the “Delete” option.
Here is a short video guiding your trough all the steps.
If you want to create a Broadcast using multiple channels, you’ll need to add a fallback channel in Step 1, and then compose separate messages for each channel in Step 2.
Here is a detailed tutorial on how to do it.
However, if you need to prepare email template upfront here is a How to Create email template tutorial.
Additional information that might be helpful as you create your Broadcast will appear along the way—keep an eye out for tips, validations, and setup guides directly in the platform;
UTM Parameters
If you want to track customer behavior, engagement, and traffic after sending a broadcast, make sure to check the UTM parameters—especially broadcast_id and customer_id. These will help you understand how each customer interacts with your campaign and allow for more accurate performance analysis. For example, you will have the possibility to see how many times someone opened the link, or how much time he/she spent on the page where the link took him/her. It's good practice to review these parameters every time you create a broadcast.
Audience upload
If you have specific audience data that’s not already available in the tool, you can easily upload your own list during Step 1.
To do this, select Upload file, give your new segment a name, and then attach the file containing your audience data. This way, you can target exactly the group you want for your broadcast.
*Make sure your file is in CSV or Excel format and follow the guidelines below to ensure it’s properly formatted for accurate upload:
- Use Lowercase Only: Ensure all text is in lowercase format.
- Avoid Special Characters: Do not include any special characters in the column names.
- Replace Spaces with Underscores: Instead of spaces, use underscores to separate words (e.g. valid: country_of_residence, not valid: Country of residence).
A/B/C Testing
As part of Step 2 in the broadcast creation process, you can enable A/B/C testing to experiment with different message variations and identify which one performs best. This functionality allows you to test up to three different versions of your communication by dividing your audience into random groups based on defined percentages.
Simply select how much of your total audience you’d like to allocate to each version (A, B, and C), and customize the content for each group. A/B/C testing is available for all channels in Broadcast Studio and is a great way to compare subject lines, message formats, CTAs, or overall messaging approaches.
By analyzing the results, you can refine your communication strategy and use the most effective message for the remaining audience or future Broadcasts.
Personalized messages
Depending on your communication style, you can choose to send messages that are personalized or more general. The level of personalization available will depend on the data included in the segment you’re targeting. For example, if the segment contains first names or other personal attributes, you can use placeholders like “First Name” to make your messages more relevant and engaging.
To view all available placeholders, simply type “/” in Step 2 of the Broadcast creation process — a list of supported dynamic fields will appear.
Our recommendation for testing Broadcasts
Before sending out your first real campaign, we strongly recommend running a test Broadcast. Set it up exactly as you would a live campaign—just with a shorter time frame.
Here’s how to do it:
- Upload a test audience, including a few team members.
- Make sure to use real names, emails, and phone numbers depending on the channel you’re testing (email, SMS, etc.).
- Create a test campaign that mirrors your actual campaign setup to ensure everything—from audience targeting to message delivery—is working as expected.
This helps you catch any issues early and ensures your real campaign runs smoothly and confidently.
FAQ:
- What is the limit for SMS Broadcasts?
The SMS character limit is 160. You can exceed this, but keep in mind it will be charged as multiple messages.
- What is the perfect picture size for manual picture upload for Viber Broadcast?
The best picture size is 800x800. However, you have the option of adding a link from the online storage as well
- Do I get any notification once my Broadcast has been approved?
Yes, you do. You will receive an email with subject “Broadcast Approved: [Broadcast name]”
In case of not getting the approval, on hour prior the broadcast being scheduled you will receive an email with subject “Action Needed: Approve your Broadcast”
- Do I get notification once my Broadcast starts?
Yes, you do. Once the Broadcast has started you will receive an email with Subject “Your Broadcast has been successfully processed"
- Can I mix and match different audiences?
Yes, you can add multiple segments at once— but there are some limitations to keep in mind. This is only possible if all selected segments share the same structure (i.e., the same fields).
For example, you can combine multiple segments created via Segmentation Studio, as long as they all include identical data fields. However, if one segment contains only an email address, and another includes first name, email, and phone number, they can't be used together—because the system wouldn’t be able to apply the same placeholders consistently across all audiences.
- Can I exclude people from a Broadcast if they were part of a previous one?
Yes, you can. In Step 2, after selecting your audience or segment, you'll see the option “Exclude profiles from other broadcasts.”
This allows you to avoid sending duplicate messages to the same users across multiple Broadcasts.
